Biofuels are renewable. They’re eco-friendly. They reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They are produced locally from local raw materials and contain no fossil fuels. Their importance will only continue to grow.

SK-Bioride (Biojazda) was set in motion in 2021 as a pilot project, accompanied by an awareness campaign focused on informing the public about eco-friendly solutions for transportation. The pilot project was launched by the Slovak road transport company Yellow Express in cooperation with the biodiesel producer Meroco, and the Association for the Production and Use of Biofuels (ZVVB).

Their first green-yellow truck hit the Slovak roads, running on pure biodiesel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from 100% to zero in just one second.

Today, thanks to the SK-Bioride project, 100% renewable B100 fuel—a smart and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels—is available on the country’s market. With B100, you can reduce your environmental footprint, enhance your environmental reputation, and stand out from the competition.

Slovakia currently faces solving the challenge of how to meet its 27% renewable energy target by 2030 with its current renewable energy (RES) capacities. Increasing the share of biofuels in transport can significantly help achieve this goal.

Through this campaign, we demonstrate that increasing the share of renewable energy in transport using high-biofuel-content fuels is feasible today and has the potential to become the most cost-effective solution for the country’s energy and environmental goals.
